The Nation of Islam, also known as the Nation of Peace, was created to "change the world into a Heaven on Earth." In Detroit, Michigan during 1931, a man named Elijah Muhammad met the Master who was preaching the Great Truth of Salvation. Elijah was left with the task to spread the secret wisdom of the Reality of God, which he spent the next 44 years of his life doing. The Nation of Islam was a result of the slavery in the Western Hemisphere, and was founded to bring peace to the defenseless African Americans who were dehumanized, exploited, and served as slaves for over three centuries.

The Honorable Elijah Muhammad
Around Oct. 7, 1897 in Sandersville Georgia, Elijah Muhammad was born. He never received more than a fourth grade education due to the fact that he had to quit school in order to help feed his family. Poverty and survival was life in the rural South, Elijah managed to get a job as a sharecropper in the fields. As years passed, he married Clara Evans and she gave birth to eight children. In hopes for a better life, Elijah and his family moved to Detroit, Michigan where the auto industry was booming. Around 1931, Master W. Fard Muhammad presented to Elijah the important message about Blacks returning to the religion of their ancestors, which was Islam. Elijah became overwhelmed and immediately accepted the task. He would spend the next 3 and a half years of his life studying and being taught personally by his teacher non-stop. In 1934, Elijah was left with the mission of resurrecting the Black man and woman. To remember his Teacher's birthday, every February 26 he brought together the faithful for Saviour's Day conventions in Chicago to reemphasize his message of moral and spiritual renewal.
Below is a short clip about Elijah Muhammad discussing about the society during that time, and how he joined the Nation of Islam.
